♫Summer time and the living is easy says the song. So how is summer going for you? Let's talk about it.....
1. How has summer been so far? Has it been easy or hard or are things moving along as usual? Is the weather getting you down or are you enjoying it so far?
Summer for me this year has been uneventful and largely spent indoors. It's been hot, hotter than I remember it being this early in the summer. I stay inside most of the time and am so thankful for my car's air conditioning whenever I do go out.
2. What have you been doing this summer? Even the little mundane things count.
I've stayed inside, reading and doing some crochet. Our church had their annual All-American BBQ after second service a Sunday ago. It was held inside, thankfully but it still had that "summer" feel. I've been trying to change my meal planning to plan my main meal during the day rather than in the evening when the hot afternoon sun hits the kitchen..
3. What are you going to do? Any plans? What interests you this summer?
No plans at the moment except the usual things. If I was able, I'd be planning a week-long stay at a beach somewhere.
4. It's been hot in most of the country. How are you weathering the heat? What are your ideas for staying cool in the hottest weather of summer.
This summer, I've pushed any concern about my electricity bill aside and set the thermostat to a comfortable level. I try to do housework or laundry and all my chores in the morning. I've also found myself tired and taking an afternoon nap a lot these days. I guess I am a self-described weather wimp! I hibernate in the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter. I live for fall and spring.
As much as I am not enjoying the heat, I am so thankful that I still have a comfortable place to retreat to and sleep. I have so many blessings too numerous to count. I'm in prayer for those in Texas affected by the devastating floods. Little girls and boys who were supposed to be having a fun-filled week at summer camp are no longer with us. Homes are gone. . . . family is gone. . . Even with 90+ temps, what do I have to complain about?
Have a blessed week, everyone!
